Black Friday Giveaway at Homeschool Giveaways

Check out these awesome Homeschool Curriculums giveaway hosted at Homeschool Giveaways and Freebies.

Sunday, November 11, 2012

This schedule is from October 1st. It has changed a little since I am now using Soaring with Spelling and Vocabulary for handwriting and spelling and Math-U-See Primer for math:

Pledge of Allegiance

Bible verse for the week

Sing a song

Fill in 5 numbers on the 100 Days of School page (because she can't stop at just one! We're on our 3rd sheet this year.)

Month/Weather page: Trace the number of the day on the calendar/ fill in the weather graph

Day of the Week page: Circle the day of the week, fill in the circle of the number of the month, write the number. Yesterday was the first time I had her spell out the number word. I don't make her trace the day of the week word becaue we do another handwriting page.

Time/Temp page: I tell her the time to the hour and she writes the hands on the clock and with numbers. Then I tell the temperature and she fills in the thermometer and writes the number. Then she draws appropriate clothes for the weather on the person.

1 Handwriting page:

1 Language Arts page: "Th" cut and paste

1 Math page: Monsters eat pizza fractions

Then we read a phonics book together.

After that she gets to play. Which is usually doing a craft of her choosing.

The Calendar, Weather, Time sheets and alot more free homeschool advice and printables can be found at one of my favorite homeschool blogs to read: confessionsofahomeschooler.com. Hello! My name is Angel and I am a homeschool mom of a 5 year old girl Doc, I alos have 3 1/2 year old twin boys Bumblebee and Opitmus Prime. My poor little Bumblebee isn't feeling well today. He woke up around 2am and threw up all over himself and hid bed. Then again in the kitchen and our room. Finally got him to sleep. Then this morning he acts like nothing's wrong and all of a sudden more of last night's dinner appears all over the ladder to his bunk bed and the lower mattress and floor. Poor little man. I put him in the bath tub and cleaned up the boys' room. Luckily he hasn't been sick again, but he took an early nap. Now he's acting fine again, but his cheeks are flushed. The other two kids seem fine. I'm getting a sore throat. Hope it doesn't last long.

Here is a picture from after Trick-or-Treating:

My daughter's new favor cartoon character is Doc McStuffins. Doc in the cartoon is a doctor to stuffed animals. It is a very cute show. My daughter loves to learn about the human body sytems and functions. She chose to take the human body class at our homeschool co-op. I don't know how to go deeper in this area-maybe start on the cellular lever. Cells -> types of cells -> organs? She's only 5 but has at least a 3rd grade knowledge in this area. Most other areas we're working on a first grade level.

This is my first year homeschooling and I'm a little all over the place. We didn't start out with  specific name brand curriculums. I've bought several 1 grade workbooks from several places. I love education.com for free worksheets. I won Soaring With Spelling and Vocabulary in a giveaaway and just last week started using it. I also just bought Math-U-See Primer (from Craigslist), Alpha, and Beta (from one of our homeschool co-ops.) I'm going to start Primer tomorrow on lesson 9.

Next blog will be A day in the life of our homeschool.
